Browning Budget Tracker
Browning Budget Tracker is a personal application used by one person — its owner — to keep track of household bills, account balances, and payment due dates in one place. It is not a commercial product and has no other users.
What data the app accesses
Through Plaid, the app reads, from the owner's own financial accounts:
- Account balances
- Liabilities — credit card and loan balances, minimum payments, and statement details
- Payment due dates
How the data is used
The information is displayed to the owner so they can see what they owe and when it is due, and reconcile it against their own recorded payments. The data is used only for this personal bookkeeping. It is never sold, shared, or disclosed to any third party.
How the data is stored and protected
- Data is stored in a database that is encrypted at rest (SQLCipher, AES-256), with the encryption key derived from a private passphrase.
- The application runs on hardware controlled by the owner and is not exposed to the public internet.
- Only the owner can access the application.
Data retention and removal
Because the app is for personal use, data is retained by the owner for their own records and can be deleted by the owner at any time. Bank connections can be removed at any time through the app, and through Plaid Portal.
